Brian is a founding member and senior trainer with the Institute for Change Leaders, X University. With Institute Trainers and Olivia Chow, Brian has taught hundreds of participants across Ontario.
Ruckus
In 2013, Brian started Ruckus: the UTSC Alumni and Community Choir. He taught the choir for 3 terms, providing accessible musical education to a brand new community. He was honoured with an Arbor Award by the University of Toronto for his work with Ruckus and the UTSC community.
Innis College Choir
In 2006, Brian started the first SATB choir at Innis College. Students have continued the musical tradition for over a decade, providing music to the College, hundreds of students, and a valuable extra-curricular activity that enhances the student experience. Brian was awarded an Innis College Recognition Award and the Gordon Cressy Leadership Award for his work at Innis and with the choir.

SEIU Healthcare
On Monday March 16th, 2020 Brian started as Research Associate with SEIU Healthcare, which represents 60,000 front line healthcare workers across Ontario. March 17th, 2020, he packed up his office to work from home as the provincial quarantine orders were made across Ontario. He continues to serve the Union and membership in his capacity as researcher.
Brian Chang for Toronto Centre
Brian won the contested NDP nomination to represent Toronto Centre on July 14, 2019. He went on to run for Team Jagmeet in the general election October 21, 2019
Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC)
Through 2019-2020, Brian served as Campaigns Organizer with the PSAC Toronto Regional Office helping to support the capacity-building, education, bargaining, and advocating for members across Ontario. He was part of successful new member organizing drives that resulted in hundreds of new PSAC members across post-secondary institutions.
Scarborough - Agincourt NDP
Brian was the Federal NDP candidate in Scarborough-Agincourt during the December 11th, 2017 By-Election. Prior to that he served as Director of Operations in Jagmeet Singh's successful leadership campaign, Office Manager to Olivia Chow in 2015, and many other countless capacities on campaigns over the years.
Jagmeet Singh
In Jagmeet Singh's historic run and win to be leader of the Federal NDP, Brian served as Director of Operations. Coordinating a national office, supporting a 20-member Director Team, and was responsible for accounts payable.
OPSEU
Brian was a Campaigns Officer at OPSEU where he led teams of active members against privatization in the Hydro One Not for Sale! Campaign, The Keep Hydro Public Coalition, Save Provincial Schools, and members during bargaining and labour solidarity.
ACAS
For years, Brian was a peer sexual health education mentor. Trained in Public Health Toronto, Public Health Ontario, and Health Canada delivery of sexual health education and STI/STD and HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. Brian also served as Treasurer of ACAS on the Board of Directors.
Hydro One Not For Sale!
Brian oversaw a team of 11 mobilizers who worked to combat the privatization of the provincially-owned utility, Hydro One. He led and trained campaigners across Ontario in advocacy, lobbying, and protests. He was part of the team that fought for a 30% reduction in Hydro Rates for Ontarians.
Save Provincial Schools
In 2016 the Liberals wanted to close 4 Demonstration schools for the severely disabled and 1 provincial school for the hearing impaired. Brian worked with parents, students, alumni, community members, and politicians to protect and keep these schools open. The Liberals ultimately backed off their decision to close them.
Olivia Chow for Mayor
Brian served as Policy Communications Coordinator and Policy Advisor to Olivia Chow in her historic run for Mayor of Toronto. Policies and proposals our team made, like Landlord Licensing, are now municipal law.
